Rick Hill is a consultant for WK Christchurch, joining us from Hargreaves and Felton in October of 2021, when the two companies merged.

His role at WK Christchurch will largely be made up of assisting with the transition of clients between Hargreaves and WK. Rick brings with him over 30 years of experience across a wide range of industries, and an impressive client portfolio made up of several large companies and professional firms.

Rick is a true blue Cantabrian, living here for his entire life, minus a two-year stint in London. He completed his Bachelor of Commerce through the University of Canterbury, followed by achieving his CAANZ membership in 1978.

In addition to being a Partner at Hargreaves for 30 years, he’s was also a Partner at KPMG Christchurch, and has been the President of Canterbury Club for three years, is a Life Member of Round Table NZ, and competed in the Coast to Coast competition three times. When he gets any spare time outside of all of those commitments, Rick is also a keen skier during the winter months.

Looking back on his career in the accounting industry, Rick recalls his first-ever assignment as an Audit Junior for NZ Farmers Co-op, and four years later he was the Audit Manager on the project. He fondly remembers carrying out the job with accounting machines and leather-bound journals, comparing the efficiency of current digital accounting practices, but also commenting on how the challenges are still the same, and working with people is still the same way to solve such problems.
